World Youth & Children's Choir Festival cum 1st Greater Bay Area Choir Festival – Hong Kong: Opening Ceremony & Concert

The World Youth & Children's Choir Artists' Association (WYCCA) organized the World Youth & Children's Choir Festival cum 1st Greater Bay Area Choir Festival from 15 to 19 July at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Baptist University. Around 60 choirs from more than 20 countries and regions participated in the festival. The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) was invited to be the guest performer in the Opening Ceremony & Concert at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall on the first day.
HKCC Concert Choir conducted by Music Director Kathy Fok and piano accompanied by Ms Lin Ching, began the concert with the song Please Stand Back from the Door, a work by HKCC's Composer-in-Residence Dr Steve Ho, who is also the Honorary Adviser of the Festival. Members back to the stage again in the finale and joined hands with the Utopia & Reality Chamber Choir, which is a choir formed by elite choristers from 15 countries, the Festival Ambassador Mr Alan Tam, the harmonica artist Mr Gordon Lee and representatives of the performing choirs. They performed the song Friend, To Love Somebody under the baton of Prof Ragnar Rasmussen and delivered a perfect opening for the 5-day Choir Festival.
