HKCC Towards 55th Anniversary Gala Concert – Singing for the Future
Date: 03/09/2023

Four shows of “HKCC Towards 55th Anniversary Gala Concert – Singing for the Future” were scheduled to be held at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall on 2 and 3 September. Unfortunately, Shows A and B were cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions on 2 September. After the storm, around 1,700 members participated in Shows C and D on 3 September to share their hopes for the future through music, drumming up enthusiasm for celebrating the imminent 55th Anniversary of HKCC.
Members performed a wide range of choral works, with repertoire spanning from Cantonese works by Hong Kong composers and English songs to folk songs from different countries and regions including Africa, Germany, Malaysia, Korea and Xinjiang. To spice up the performances, tutors prepared props and costumes for the members, who performed with lively movements and dance steps and won a big round of applause from audiences of all ages.
Members from Intermediate level and Concert Choir presented A New Day, a commissioned work composed by Mr Alex Tam in celebration of HKCC’s 55th Anniversary and Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival's 7th Anniversary, at the end of Show C, looking ahead to a brighter future through music.
