HKCC 55th Anniversary Dance Gala "Boundless Dance"
Date: 28/12/2024
The Hong Kong Children's Choir ("HKCC") presented two grand dance shows — the Dance Gala "Boundless Dance" as the finale of HKCC's 55th-anniversary celebrations. The shows were held on the evening of 28 December and the afternoon of 29 December 2024, at Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium. Coinciding with the Olympic year, the theme cross-culturally integrated the Chinese traditional 24 solar terms and the Olympic spirit into dance art, showcasing the infinite possibilities of dance.
The two performances encompassed a variety of dance forms, including Chinese Dance, Ballet, Tap Dance, Jazz Dance, and Hip Hop, fully demonstrating the HKCC members' dance talents. In addition, choir members from Intermediate 2D and 3D joined in singing the 24 Solar Terms Song, expressing the changes in the Solar Terms through their voices. The beautiful melodies and the expertly choreographed performances by the Chinese dance members on stage perfectly complemented each other, creating a harmonious blend of "dance within the song" and their incredible teamwork.
With delicately designed props, costumes, and makeup, around 800 members transformed into symbols of the changing seasons, such as butterflies dancing in spring, lotus standing beautifully in summer lakes, joyful harvest scenes in autumn fields, and snowflakes fluttering in winter days, and allowed the audience to feel as if they were experiencing various weather changes through the dance. Furthermore, various sports elements were also added to the performances, such as badminton, rope skipping and rhythmic gymnastics. Sports were expressed through dance movements, highlighting the dynamic and rhythmic aspects of sports, which are also critical components in dancing. The astonishing performances brought a perfect conclusion to HKCC's 55th-anniversary celebrations.
