HKCC 55th Anniversary Choral Camp "Sing Out of the Box"
Date: 31/07/2024
The five-day Choral Camp "Sing Out of the Box," commemorating the 55th anniversary of The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC), was held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from 31 July to 4 August. Sincere gratitude is extended to the distinguished instructors, Karmina Šilec, Tim Wayne-Wright, and Horace Mui, who led the workshops on "New Music Theatre", "A Cappella Academy" and "Show Choir" respectively. Their expertise enabled over 150 participants to explore unconventional choral music and gain profound insights during the intensive training sessions.
The camp concluded with two concerts at the Shaw Auditorium of HKUST on 3 and 4 August, showcasing members' newly acquired skills from the camp. The "A Cappella Academy" presented a repertoire of diverse and challenging pieces, demonstrating the pursuit of "Unity" in A Cappella music. The "Show Choir" group enlightened the audience with their vibrant presentation of a series of pop songs, and musical and movie themes, accompanied by dynamic choreography. The "New Music Theatre" group delivered a compelling performance of the award-winning Slovenian project Vampirabile, a perfect integration of vocal music and theatre, creating an extraordinarily dramatic experience for the audience via movement, music, words and visuals.
