HKCC 55th Anniversary Alumni Concert "Where We Grew Up"
Date: 24/08/2024
The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) celebrated its 55th anniversary with a nostalgic concert "Where We Grew Up" on 24 August 2024. Over 200 alumni, across different generations, reunited at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall to reminisce and celebrate the remarkable moments in their journey with HKCC.
The concert opened with a touching performance of Song of Remembrance by former Artistic Director Mr Jimmy Chan and former instructor Ms Sally Lee, followed by a moving rendition of You Raise Me Up by the HKCC Parent-Child Choir. The atmosphere was heartwarming as outstanding alumni in music and performance returned to HKCC and shared the stage with old friends, rejoicing in the joy of performance once more.
Noteworthy moments included a dance piece A Thousand Reds choreographed by HKCC Dance Supervisor Ms Michelle Loi, and two heartfelt songs performed by members of Junior 1A and Intermediate 1C, under the guidance of alumni and current instructors. Before the second half of the concert began, alumni representatives paid tribute by presenting flowers as a heartfelt thank you to the chairpersons, board members and advisors who have devoted to HKCC over the years, for their dedication and contributions.
The grand finale, conducted by current Music Director Ms Kathy Fok, featured an impressive rendition of the HKCC 55th-anniversary theme song A New Day, symbolizing the enduring spirit and legacy of HKCC across generations.
