Concert “Voices of Hope and Togetherness” at Hong Kong Arts Festival
Date: 04/03/2023
The Hong Kong Children’s Choir was invited by the 51th Hong Kong Arts Festival to participate in the Concert “Voices of Hope and Togetherness – A Choral and Orchestral Gathering” on 4 March at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. The two-part concert featured Nixon in China and Absolute Jest by the American composer John Adams and Le Chant des Enfants des Étoiles by the Korean composer Unsuk Chin respectively.
The talented Hong Kong conductor Wilson Ng led Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Esmé Quartet, The Hong Kong Arts Festival Chorus and HKCC to present this grand choral and orchestral collaboration. Concert Choir from HKCC performed Le Chant des Enfants des Étoiles (The Song of the Children of the Stars) under the sonorous sounds of bells, percussion and the organ. Based on the works of Romantic poets, the piece explores a range of themes including the birth of universe, human condition and eternity, advocating the belief that human beings, as “childrens of stars”, and everything else in the universe share a common heritage and should have no boundary or difference.
