Chinese New Year Dance Gala

Date: 07/02/2026

  • The Dance Group of The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) was invited to perform at Chinese New Year Dance Gala on February 7 and 14 at Telford Plaza and Maritime Square respectively. Under the leadership of Dance Supervisor Michelle Loi and Dance Coordinator Chloe Lee, members of the Junior Dance Team and Youth Dance delivered full New Year blessings to the audience.

As the new year approaches, centered on the themed "Canton culture, New Year Celebration", this gala focused on Spring Festival traditions and Lingnan culture, featuring ten dances which blend traditional charm with modern creativity. Members of the Junior Dance Team kicked off the gala with Lion Awakens, Prosperous New Year. Dancers held traditional lion heads to vividly perform the "green harvesting" custom, wishing everyone a vigorous and energetic new year. The performance was also infused with warm Lingnan charm. In Spring Rain at Xiguan, members danced gracefully with oil-paper umbrellas, leading the audience into the poetic and gentle world of Lingnan. Towards the end of the performance, the Youth Dance presented Fan Dances on a New Journey. Holding kung fu fans, the members danced with great momentum, symbolizing embracing the spring breeze and embarking on a new journey with a high-spirited attitude. Reunion Celebration pushed the audience’s enthusiasm to the climax. All members gathered on the stage, holding red envelopes, spring couplets and other New Year props to pay a collective New Year call to the audience, symbolizing the reunion and joy of every household and abundant blessings. Our performances concluded with bursts of applause and cheers from the audience.
