Chinese Culture Festival 2026: City of Lights: Spirits of the Past

Organized by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hong Kong Member Association, in association with Chinese Dancers Association Hong Kong Member Branch, Chinese Culture Festival 2026: City of Lights: Spirits of the Past was staged on 18 & 19 July at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall. The Hong Kong Children’s Choir (HKCC) was invited to participate and contribute to both performances with dedicated singing.

The performance opened with several of Hong Kong’s distinguished dance groups, including Hong Kong Dance Company, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts School of Dance, Hibiscus Dance, Starwave Production etc. Through nine distinctive chapters, dancers guided audiences through a maze of light and shadow. The programme highlighted cultural diversity: rod puppetry brought stories to life with silk threads; face-changing art met street dance in a dynamic exchange; and traditions of six ethnic groups, Miao, Tibetan, Mongolian, Korean, She, and Han, were expressed through graceful movements and flowing costumes. Led by HKCC tutor Albert Lim, Chamber Boys performed the theme song of the program with choreography in the finale. Their performance added depth and warmth, drawing waves of applause.
