To celebrate its Golden Jubilee coming in 2019, HKCC held The Hong Kong Children’s Choir Golden Jubilee Kick Off Ceremony & Establishment of HK Children’s Choir Arts Development Fund in Recital Hall, West Kowloon Centre on 30 August. Apart from introducing a series of celebration activities, HKCC also announced to establish “HK Children’s Choir Arts Development Fund” so as to give back to the community and promote local arts development.
Besides members of the Board of Directors, HKCC was very delighted to have the presence of Professor Adrian WALTER, AM, Director of The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts as one of the officiating guests. Ms Emily MOK, MH, JP, member of the Board joined hands with two intermediate members to talk through the celebration events, including Choral Composition Selections and Logo Design Competition that were held before, and the coming Concerts, Dance Drama, Asia Pacific Choral Summit and Musical.
Dr Darwin CHEN, Honorary President and Chairman of the Fund introduced about the structure and aims of the Fund which is to provide support from HKCC to the students and schools in need, so as to nurture new arts talents in Hong Kong.
The Honourable Mr Justice Barnabas FUNG, GBS, was also invited to the Ceremony as an alumnus from the 70s to chatter with our elementary members for all topics from changes of the Choir to favourite food. The meeting of members from different times created a heart-warming moment to the Ceremony.
Another famous alumnus, Soprano Louise KWONG, joined Concert Choir to present HKCC’s 50th Anniversary theme song I Just Want to Sing under the lead of Kathy FOK, Music Director and Principal Conductor, and Steve HO, our Composer in Residence and writer of the song, drawing a perfect end to the ceremony.
